Counselling

The places that provide Counselling for traumatised children in Johannesburg, vary greatly in quality. Some rely upon student counsellors, so one is subject to the whims of the academic year – late starts, early endings, long holidays and absences for examinations. Continuity and consistency of care are lacking. Many Counselling places are poor on follow-up. Many have financially well-off counsellors who are not able to relate to the poverty-stricken worlds that our children are from; additionally there are not enough people providing quality counselling who have the same home languages and cultural understanding as our children.
In April 2016 we were again looking for people and places to help a particular child. Below is a list relating to part of Soweto. As yet we have no comment as to whether they are effective or not.
